We as moms soak ourselves into caring for our loved ones and we do it because we love doing it. Also, pretty often we tend to ignore our ownselves. What the year 2018 majorly taught me was until I am able to find my peace, my calm and my happiness, I can not give the best version of myself to others who matter. For being a better version of myself I must take care of myself, I must indulge in activities that make me happy, I must take ME time out. Indulging in self care makes me a happier woman.
One thing I love taking care of is my skin. It is the largest organ of our body, the one that forms the exterior whole, don’t you think it deserves all the care. If you have read my skin care posts earlier, you’d know I love home remedies. Apart from home remedies, these are a list of products that have been an absolute favourite in the year 2018. These are the ones I am definitely taking forward to 2019.
1) Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask
I am not the kind of girl who obsesses over lips and keeps reapplying balms. But this winter was a tad too harsh, and the Laneige sleeping lip mask worked like magic on my lips.
PS – I got a few samples from this brand of their tone up cream which lead to break outs. So before you buy a full sized pack do try a small bottle first, for any product from this brand.
2) Himalaya Body Butter
Who likes white, stretchy skin during winters ? Who likes oily and sticky skin during summers ? A right body moisturiser helps combat both these issues. Himalaya body butter works great for my dry skin. It absorbs immediately into the skin without making it too greasy or sticky.
3) Kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil
I have literally been suggesting this one to so many go my friends. I do think it is an expensive purchase, but one bottle goes a long way. Almost six months for me. Two drops of this oil is all my skin needs after cleansing and toning at night.
4) Cetaphil Skin Cleanser
Cetapil cleanser was recommended by a dermatologist for treating acne when I was a teenager. Over the years my choice of cleanser has been pretty constant. This one is a gentle foam free cleanser that does not dry out the skin like a face wash does.
5) Garnier Micellar Water
When I have make up on, I use Garnier Micellar water before the Cetaphil cleanser to get rid of all the make up. I have used baby oil to remove make up all my life, but since I bought this one earlier in 2018, it became my instant favourite.
6) Kama Ayurveda Rose Water
The weather in Bombay is humid and no matter what season it is, the skin tends to look a little dehydrated and dull. Rose water spray by Kama Ayurveda is great way of giving an instant boost to your skin. It works great as a make up setting spray as well.
7) The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree oil has multiple skin benefits, one of the significant ones being acne treatment. This is my to go to product for treating those zits and break outs. Just spot apply it on the acne before bedtime and it works it’s magic overnight.
8) Emolene Skin Cream
This one was also prescribed by a dermatologist for dry skin. It has been my favourite moisturiser ever since. If you have dry skin this one is a must try.
9) Kiehls Ultra Light Daily UV Defense Mineral Sunscreen
There is no product more significant that a sunscreen in your skin care routine and yet there is nothing more exasperating than finding the right one. It was only in August 2018 that I tried the one by Kiehls. It does not feel thick on the skin, is easy to apply, does not make your skin oily and the best part is – it is tinted.
