In the previous post you read how we planned our seven days trip to Rajasthan. Incase you haven’t read it yet, you can check it out here.
In this post, I’d be sharing how we spent the two most memorable days of our Rajastan trip in the city of Udaipur.
Udaipur, righteously known as “The City Of Lakes” and “Venice Of The East” depicts how generous nature can be. The city boosts of a rich cultural background, architectural grandeur, stunning locations, busy streets and has royalty in its air.
Here are places we covered in our two days stay at Udaipur :
1) City Palace
The City Palace in Udaipur is located at the banks of Lake Pichola. Everything about this palace is magnificent, whether it is the blend of European, Medieval, Chinese and Rajputana architecture, or the antiques inside. This one has a lot to explore, you can take over 3 to 4 hours to take a walk around the whole palace. We hired a tourist guide here too, he was very kind to share with us the details of everything we say around.
2) Lake Pichola
We were surprised to learn that Lake Pichola is actually a man made wonder of the city. The surrounding hills, mountains, palaces, temples, bathing ghats and hotels make this lake a picturesque one. You can take a boat ride during sunset or walk along the lake to soak into it’s scenic beauty. You can also visit the Lake Palace there.
3) Bagore Ki Haveli
The Bagore ki Haveli has his own historical significance. It was converted into a museum resting the royal touch of the building. The massive building has over 100 rooms and looks splendid with its unique style of architecture. On our second evening in Udaipur we made it to the Haveli just in time to watch the folk dance show that happens there every evening. If you are in Udaipur you cannot miss this.
4) Blessings Of Karni Mata
One of the best things we did in Udaipur was to visit the temple of Karni Mata to seek her blessings. The temple is located on top of Machla Magra hills. Wondering how we got there? Riding the ropeway! The ride was affordable, adventurous, and the experience was quaint.
5) Udaipur Bazaars
Inwas allured into buying silver ornaments from atleast five different shops, even when we did not intend to shop. The Silver bazaar has a traditional and unique collection of jewellery that every woman is sure to love. Hathi Pole Bazaar in Udaipur is littered with souvenirs, paintings and artisanal products. You can buy these at negotiable prices.
The city does have a lot more to offer including temples, historic structures and shopping destinations. It sure is a place you must visit with your family.
