The scorching heat, bright sun, sweaty skin and pollution during the summer months are bound to take a toll on your skin. The skin begins to tan, appears sticky and greasy and looses its lustre. Instead of wrecking my skin with a host of chemicals and creams I choose to nurture it with natural ingredients available in our homes. In this post I share with you easy to prepare DIY homemade face packs to revive your skin during summers.
1) Mint Face Pack
Mint is known for its cooling properties and when applied as a mask it soothes the skin. Grind a few mint leaves in a blender to make a paste. Add a pinch of turmeric and cream to this paste, apply it all over your face and neck and wash it off with cold water after 15 minutes.
2) Milk and lemon
This is my favorite natural cleanser during the summers. Add a few drops of lemon to about six spoons of milk, apply this paste on your face with a cotton ball, allow it to dry for ten minutes before you wash your face.
3) Orange Pack
Orange is a citric fruit, rich in vitamin C and ascorbic acid. It helps deal with skin problems like blackheads, blemishes, excess sebum etc. To make an effective orange face pack, squeeze the juice of about half an orange into a bowl, add wheat flour to the juice to make a smooth paste. Smear this paste evenly on your face and neck and allow it to dry. Once the paste has dried wash your face with cold water.
4) Gramflour and yogurt
Gramflour is a magical ingredient in any face pack that cleanses your skin and makes it appear fresh instantaneous. To make a simple and effective gramflour face pack – take two tablespoons of gramflour in a bowl, add a pinch of turmeric and a spoon full of yogurt to it. Mix the ingredients well to make a smooth paste, apply this paste on your face and neck and allow it to dry. Wash your face with cold water once the face pack dries.
5) Strawberry face pack
Strawberries help remove tan and make the skin soft and supple. Mash a few strawberries into a coarse paste, add a spoonful of yogurt and a few drops of lemons to the strawberry paste to make an anti tan face pack.
6) Cucumber face pack
Cucumber is the best coolant for your skin during summers. Grate a refrigerated cucumber and squeeze the juice out of it. Add a tablespoon of oatmeal powder to the cucumber juice to make a paste. Apply this cooling pack on your face and allow it to dry for 10 minutes before you wash your face.
7) Sandalwood powder
Sandalwood powder is used in several ayurvedic face creams and packs because of its cooling and hydrating effect on skin. Mix sandalwood powder with rose-water to make a soothing face pack for your skin. Use this pack at least once a week during the summers.
8) Aloe Vera gel
The benefits of aloe vera for your skin are numerous. It cools down your skin, removes tan, your skin and also helps fade acne marks. Scoop fresh aloe vera gel out from an aloe pant leaf and apply the clear gel generously all over your face. Wash your face after with cold water after 15 minutes.
How to use these face packs effectively?
– The face packs shared above are cooling packs that can be used for all skin types.
– Use a face pack that works for your skin three times a week. Using it everyday may lead to dry skin.
– Do not let the face pack dry completely on your skin. This stretches the skin and may cause wrinkles and dry skin problems. Wash any pack off when it is slightly dry or within fifteen minutes of application.
– Use a toner, and moisturise your skin after you use any face pack.
STAY HAPPY and YOU’D STAY BEAUTIFUL!
