“You can always tell who the strong women are. They are the ones who help building up one another and not tearing each other apart”
Earlier on, when I donned mommyhood I was always encompassed by doubts, worries, dilemmas, uncertainties, confusions and hesitations that new motherhood bring with it.
I was then, introduced to JAMM’s – Journey About Mast Moms by a dear cousin…
JAMM’s is a no-nonsense & complete Momsense (love how they phrase this) mommy support group for Mumbai and Navi Mumbai mothers. They are connected online via social media (whats app & secret Facebook group) and meet offline almost every week. I was added to the whatsapp group of 250+ like minded mothers with infants. That is where I met women who would understand me, comprehend me, quell my worries, support me and provide valuable companionship on my mommyhood journey!
Almost 10 months down the timeline, I still find myself bragging about JAMM’s because it made an incredible change in my life which has led to informed parenting.
When women support women incredible things are most likely to happen. JAMM’s does not confine itself to being a Support group for mothers… It has a larger perspective of working towards the welfare of the society as a whole.
I must add here, JAMM’s social welfare endeavors are unique and one of its kind. Be it ‘Happy New Hair’ where they gave 365 underprivileged children a haircut or ‘I-Light’ where they gave 550 white canes, dark glasses and eye check-ups to the visually impaired during Diwali.
Now as JAMM’s turns two this April 2016, the team has made up its mind to make a significant change in lives of rural children.
Their new social initiative ‘STEP UP’ is a marvelous effort to provide something as basic as footwear to 730 children. Seven hundred and thirty because they celebrate seven hundred and thirty days of their existence. What a way of celebration… Kudos!!
Have you imagined stepping out in the scorching heat barefoot? Unfortunately, it is the harsh reality for some little souls. JAMM’s is making an all out effort to provide footwear to children residing in villages of Mulshi Taluka, Pune.
These kids walk upto 3 kms barefoot to reach school. They carry water to pour on their burning feet. Just like hungry stomach cannot hear, I doubt burning feet can.
The righteousness of this cause has managed to strike a chord with me. And you?
While we are busy stocking up the thigh high heels, stilettoes, platforms and wedges, lets pause for a while and arrange for some basic footwear for a child.
Every drop in an ocean counts, make your effort count now!!
Here is how you can extend a hand by contributing online directly…
