Keeping a toddler engaged and entertained can be quiet a thought-provoking task. I am constantly looking for places to explore with my son. If you look for play areas in Navi Mumbai, Zoo Woo Boo is sure to pop up. It is located in Satara Plaza, Vashi, inside the mall. Even though there are no signs or boards here, once you get on the second floor, the play area is hard or miss.
Whether it’s the scorching heat or the rains lashing out, indoor play areas assure a safe play place for kids. And so when heading outdoors is not an option, soft structured play areas are my favourite place of take my kid to.
Speaking of play areas. the one closest to my house and my son’s favourite is – Zoo Woo Boo.
Zoo Woo Boo is a soft structured play area that provides an opportunity for children to play freely. As a teacher and a parent now, I highly advocate ‘Free play’ amongst children. It allows a child to explore, experiment, execute and learn by themselves. A free play of this sort aids social, physical and mental development of the child.
As you enter the play area, a well-equipped, cheerful and clean space welcomes you. This is one of the largest and most wide-spread play areas I have been to in Mumbai (and I have been to quite a few of them)
What to expect at Zoo Woo Boo
As you walk in, there is a piano to walk on, the keys play notes as you walk on them. Further ahead there is a water bed for toddlers followed by a trampoline that is thoughtfully turned into boxing ring. My son usually spends the first ten minutes there as we enter. There is a sand-play area that is filled with sponge cushions and a few other props. My son does not really like that section much.
Adjacent to the sand-play area is a ball pool, which I think is quite deep and has good number of balls. Further ahead are the regular slides that land on to soft mats, bridges, tunnels, pretend cars, wall climbing and other gross motor activities suitable for preschoolers and older kids.
In another area there are pressure guns you can shoot foam balls with, a machine you can collect balls in and press a button for a ball shower, and on the wall is a horse hanging with his mouth open for you to aim and feed foam balls to him. My son laughs in excitement when the horse neighs in pleasure if you aim right. There is also a notched wall older kids can climb.
There is a scooter you can slide through an undulating path, a cushioned merry-go-round, a small slide for toddlers and a few cushioned riders.
Zoo Woo Boo is a Happy and vibrant place to take the kids to. I particularly like the fact that it is well-lit and maintained clean at all times we have visited. There are two ladies at the counter to monitor your check in and out time and to guide you with any assistance you’d need. There is one young boy who lingers around looking after the kids inside the play area. There is an open space for birthday parties inside the play area which you can use to set up food and dessert tables.
Until the previous time we visited there wasn’t any cafe or arrangements for parents to sip a beverage or grab a bite as the child plays in. I don’t know if they have changed that now.
If you are in or around Navi Mumbai, this is a place you can take your kids to for a relaxed indoor play time. This is a fantastic place to organise play dates at with your mom friends. I often send my boy here with his dad when I have to make a quick visit to the parlour or meet my girlfriends.
