Review – Hotel Mercure, Lavasa

Being able to travel again after you have a baby is a challenge. But a wee bit of courage and preparation can make your vacation with a baby convenient and so much fun. One of my favorite destinations for a weekend getaway with a baby is Lavasa.
Lavasa is popularly known as India’s first planned hill station,  and it is indeed a well planned one. I give you 5 reasons to pack your bags and drive to Lavasa the very next weekend.

It’s Majestic Location

Lavasa is located in the western Ghats of Maharashtra in the Mose Valley, about 65 kms away from Pune. Lavasa is around 200 kms away from Mumbai. This makes it a prefect drive with your spouse and family. Being located in the Shayadri range, this city is scenic and picturesque. You would want to stop by and embrace the beauty of nature while driving through Lavasa. It’s mesmerizing natural beauty and the pleasant weather make Lavasa a place worth visiting.

It makes for an entertaining stay without the pressure of having to do too many things

For a person like me who loves to vacation without an itinerary, Lavasa is an ideal getaway. The city has its Club called Dasve Club which is well equipped with a  Spa, salon, swimming pool and few other indoor activities. At the promenade you would find a few water sports activities, cycling, and an indoor game parlor catering to both adults and kids.

For how organized it is

What amuses me the most about Lavasa is how organized it is. Since, it is a planned city it has guards spread across to guide you with directions. The hospital, recreation center, cinema hall, club, hotels, apartment accommodations, and all other structures are perfectly amalgamated to form a beautiful city.

To embrace Mother Nature

Nature trial at Ekant is one of the key attractions of Lavasa. The roads with hills on both sides are a dream to ride on. The view and scenery are breathtaking. The view of Varasgaon Dam, a man-made structure amidst the beauty of nature is enchanting.

To give yourself a break

My favorite reason to visit Lavasa is to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and rejuvenate my mind and soul. Lavasa is a city in itself, but it is very different from the Metro cities. It has a soothing effect on your otherwise busy lifestyle.
Now, that I have already said you must visit Lavasa, how about discussing the accommodation. Lavasa being a tourist destination has several accommodation options. You can choose from low price hotels, to reasonable apartments and luxurious hotels. I chose to stay at Hotel Mercure in Lavasa.

Review Hotel Mercure, Lavasa

Mercure Hotels is a mid-scale brand of AccorHotels that offers world class standards, distinctive hospitality and services. The Brand is spread all across the world with 750 hotels in 51 countries, each having its unique prepositions.
When my husband and I were planning a getaway to Lavasa, within minutes of browsing the Internet we chose Hotel Mercure. We booked a room online at a tarrif of 4000 INR a day for two days.
We checked in at the Hotel at around 1 am, even at the odd hour we were greeted with warmth and the check in was smooth and easy.
The Hotel premises were decorated with class and contemporary interiors.
The bar on the left of the Reception was well designed and had umpteen liquor offerings to suit different guests.

The Room

The room of the hotel was extremely clean and cosy. It was fully air-conditioned and well equipped with amenities to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The room had a LED Television, mini refrigerator, mini bar, tea and coffee station, iron board and spacious wardrobes. The help line phone in the room clearly defined what number to dial for any desired service. The free Wi-Fi  connection was a much-needed treat as the network connection in Lavasa is generally very weak.

The best part about Hotel Mercure is the Staff and its service. Every person at the hotel treats you with affection and warmth. From the guards at the gate, to the staff at the reception, the waiters, the manager, the chef, the bar tender, each one was as humble and polite as the other.
The staff made a constant effort to avoid any kind of discomfort to us. Since, we had a baby with us, the food ordered through room service was sent on priority basis and just like I demanded. Even at the restaurant, special preparation was made for the baby as per his taste.

Food and Beverage

The ‘Celebrations’ restaurant at the hotel offered delicacies from different Indian and International cuisines. We opted for non vegetarian dinner buffet that consisted of a three course  meal with vast variety to choose from. I especially liked the deserts served at the restaurant.

My Verdict

Hotel Mercure is an exquisite property located in an extremely serene and picturesque destination. The luxury and comfort of the guests is well taken care of at the Hotel. The staff of the hotel makes sure your stay becomes a memorable one. Hotel Mercure is also affiliated with Dasve Club, which entitles you to discounts on services you avail at the Club. This place is ideal if you are planning a short vacation with a baby. Although a little small, this family Hotel makes you feel at home and let’s you enjoy the calm and peace at Lavasa.
