‘JAMMS’ A no-nonsense and complete Momsense social support group for networking amongst Mumbai based mothers is known for inviting mommies and their babies for wonderful events.
On the 25th of April 2016, I got an opportunity to attend a book reading session of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Disney is a name or rather a brand we all associate our childhood with. I have grown up admiring Disney princesses, loving the Disney princes and hating the evil villains. One such Disney classic is Beauty and the Beast.
After the immense success of the romantic movie released in 1991, Broadway theatre made it into a musical.
Before making its way to India the previous year, the theatrical has run successfully across the World for over a decade.
After an immensely successful run in Mumbai in October 2015, the musical is BACK in our very own city to win hearts over in May 2016.
A book reading session was conducted by team Disney at Landmark bookstore in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The book reading was executed by the lead actors of the musical to give us a sneak peek of what we can expect at the theatre.
Keeping the audience awake and engrossed at a book reading session is a challenge. Especially if your audience is around the age of five. But the potent talents who play Belle, Gaston and Mrs. Potts in the musical kept their little audience captivated and connected.
Meher Mistry who essays the role of Belle left us awe-struck with her animated gestures and expressions.
Hitesh Malukani, who plays Gaston kept the audience engaged and entertained as he played skilfully with his voice and expressions.
The reading session went on for thirty minutes and left me wanting more. I look forward to these supremely talented Indian actors perform live.
The audience was then treated with a trailer of the musical on the television screen.
This event gave me a glimpse of a one of its kind musical to be held in India.
A Disney classic being recaptured in Broadway style by an Indian cast and crew definitely deserves a watch.
Now I crave to watch the musical, for I expect to leave the NSCI stadium with a happily ever after feeling that Disney movies give me.
The sneak peek of the musical has raised my expectations high.
I expect to see some spectacular sets, mind-blowing chemistry, romance, lots of music, awesome choreography, dance, love, drama and a spectrum of emotions unfold on stage this May.
With the advent of summer vacations, this musical visual treat is a must watch with your kids. the tickets are available at bookmyshow.
PS – I left my baby home with his daddy to attend this event after a really long time. while I was all nervous when my two handsome boys joined me at the mall, the daddy had to say kiddo had an awesome time without mommy nagging around:0
PPS – I sure plan to take my boys along to watch the magnum opus this May.
I thank team JAMMS and Ritu for the invitation.
