As I was surfing through some TV channels, I stumbled upon Hrithik Roshan, The Greek God of Hindi cinema dancing. He was showing off his killer moves with a young boy whose steps were just as rhythmic and flawless as well! It was a Nirma Advance commercial, and I got so hooked to it that I kept watching it on YouTube.
In case you haven’t yet seen this masterpiece, you can watch it here
Apart from being an amazing commercial, it also made me think of how times have changed and how we have evolved over generations.
When it comes to Nirma, I remember the jingle “Doodh si safedi Nirma Se aye, rangeen kapda bhi khil khil jaye” (I am humming as I write). The brand has now revamped itself to suit the new-age mom. The Nirma then was an apt choice for moms, and Nirma in its new avatar is all set to be an apt choice for moms today. It’s a new offering from a brand that has been trusted for years. Nirma Advance is the same trustworthy brand with more effectiveness, better packaging, and better formulation. It is an ideal detergent if you’re looking to get rid of the stubborn stains and filth left behind on clothes due to our daily modern lifestyles.
Thinking about Nirma and naye zamane ka Nirma Advance, I sit back and ponder about how my mom and I am poles apart as mothers as well, but we embrace our differences and cherish our similarities. I bathe my toddler with besan, give him a wash before bedtime, narrate a bedtime story, use cloth diapers, soak and wash the baby’s clothes separately, just like my mom did. Similarly, one more thing we share is the brand of detergent powder we use – Nirma.
Motherhood and all its facets have changed over time and how! The way a new-age, contemporary mom carries herself and her role of a mother, both have changed drastically.
Here is how I think the naye zamane ki maa really is and she surely deserves a bow:
She Loves Vanity And Clothing
Women of all ages in any era have loved looking their best but the mom today takes herself a bit more seriously when it comes to her appearance. Vanity is therapeutic, so the mom today wears makeup and high heels whenever she can and slips on her sweat pants to work out. Trends keep changing – it may be brocade this month and silk during the next one. To keep up with these trends, she definitely needs a detergent that helps her maintain the different fabrics she chooses for herself and her kids.
Naye Zamane Ki Maa Is A Multi-Tasker
Mothers have been the best at multi-tasking since the beginning of time, but mothers today are able to quell the dilemma of whether to choose career or family and are able to balance both fabulously.
She Is A Blend Of Old And New
The Naye Zamane ki Maa wouldn’t hesitate to apply whiskey on the baby’s tummy to treat his cold but would never ditch the medication! She loves the old nuskhas but needs her new syrups and pills as well.
Naye Zamane Ki Maa Is Tech Savvy But Wants Her Kids To Go Outdoors
The Maa today uses a smartphone smartly. Whether it’s storing contacts, setting alarms, trying new recipes, booking an appointment, finding an answer to the question her child asked, discovering a hack, or even shopping online, she has the internet, technology, and gadgets at her disposal. But that is not it – she secretly wishes there are more technological inventions every now and then, like heels with buttons to turn them into flats, a pan that makes chapatis on its own, or tweezers that pluck out hair permanently. She craves more and more of it for herself but wouldn’t want her child’s childhood to be hijacked by technology. So, she encourages outdoor play, takes her kids for trekking, and encourages extracurricular activities. It definitely brings home some filthy clothes but she is never afraid!
Naye Zamane Ki Maa Is More Social
She is more active on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter; she loves sharing her stories, seeing what her friends are up to, and counts her social media accounts as her memory diary.
She Is An Excessively Involved Parent
I often wonder how my grandmother had the courage and patience to have nine children. Today, I am not even sure if I want a second child! Moms today are highly involved – we use flash cards, aim at all-round development from birth, and would want to be a part of the nitty-gritty of the child’s life.
Naye Zamane Ki Maa Loves Pace
She loves to be speedy and chooses products that make work easy and super quick.
She buys Barbies for her son, plays with race cars, drives her son to the park, and at times, feels guilty about not doing her best (even if she is doing her best). She is bold, beautiful, courageous, independent, but yet shielding and loving at the same time.
Kudos to the Naya Zamane Ki Maa and a huge round of applause to our trusted detergent brand, which has revamped to adapt to the Naye Zamane ke needs!
