The one thing every mom is definitely short on is – TIME. Whether you are a mom who goes to the office, or a mom who works at home, I know the struggle to cope with mom life is real. And the one who takes a backseat in your life, while you are busy running errands is – you yourself.
You deserve the pampering and you deserve to look your best, no matter who the audience is!
Here are ten easy ways, that I swear by to keep my skin and hair in great shape. And the best part is, you only have to dedicate a few minutes to yourself a day.
#1 Home Made Face Pack
There is a plethora of goodness for your skin and hair right into your kitchen. In a bowl mix one cup of gram flour powder, 1/4 th cup of almond powder, 1/4th cup of fresh turmeric powder, mix the three ingredients well and store it in a jar. On alternate days just add a spoonful of yogurt to one tablespoon of this powder and a homemade face pack is ready within a minute. You can prepare and store any kind of face masks or packs that work for your skin type.
#2 Follow the CTM routine
I think nothing works better than Cleansing – Toning and Moisturising to keep your skin healthy, clean and glowing. Make this a bed time routine. I have my cleanser, toner and moisturiser placed on the bathroom shelf, so when I go for a change at night, I only need two extra minutes to cleanse, tone and apply moisturiser on my skin.
#3 Get wash and wear hair
Visit a good hair stylist and invest in a hair cut or a hair treatment that ensures that your hair look great without styling. Specify that you want something you can let air-dry that looks good if you don’t have time to style. And easy does not necessarily mean boring. Ask your stylist to add oodles of sass and jazz to your look. (If only you like it that way ofcourse)
#4 Stay hydrated
This is a sure shot way of looking and feeling good. I am sure you have heard this a zillion times before, so it’s time you drink up, if you are not already. Set an alarm, label your bottle and target finishing it in time, carry water everywhere you go, or do what it takes to drink water through out the day.
#5 Invest in good make up products
Panda eyes speak motherhood like nothing else does. Invest in a good concealer, mascara and an eye pencil to dress your eyes up when you feel like. You could also buy a good tinted moisturiser. A tinted moisturiser protects your skin, moistures it and also gives good coverage, one product that does three jobs is sure a good investment.
#6 Organize your makeup
Putting all your beauty products in order saves time. Arrange them in the order you use the products, and make sure to throw away empty or old makeup containers.
#7 Use a facial mist
You don’t have to have dry skin to use a facial mist. It immediately hydrates and soothes your skin. However if you use it too often, it may dry your skin further. Using it a couple of times a day replenishes and protects your skin from the elements. I use rose water stored in a bottle with a spray nozzle as a facial mist and totally love how it gives a natural glow to my skin.
#8 Eat right
One of the many many benefits of eating right is that it shows on your skin and how! So maintain a healthy diet and your skin will thank you for it. Keep your skin looking healthy by stocking up on anti-inflammatory foods and those that contain a lot of antioxidants. If you are a new mom don’t ditch the vitamins your doctor prescribed.
#9 Exfoliate regularly
Our skin sheds less dead cells and it makes our face look dull and dreary. The best way to get rid of dead skin and revive the facial skin instantly is to exfoliate. Scrubbing your face with a good exfoliater takes just a few minutes but works wonders on the skin. Exfoliating the skin twice a week is more than enough and to save more time, do it while you’re in the shower.
#10 Make time for yourself
Even if it is a few minutes a day, set out a little time for yourself every day. Only if you take care of yourself would you be able to take care of others.
All you need are a few basic rules to ensure that your skin is glowing and you’re not looking old before your time. These 10 rules may seem basic, but it’s good to remind yourself what your body, skin and mind needs to stay in tip top condition.
